2009 is here and we have a few goals that we would like to accomplish by the end of the year. Here they are:

A building in Grand Rapids – I believe we can all agree that the more time you spend with a person, the more chance that you will have influence on them. To become a greater influence in Grand Rapids, Power House needs a building that is located within the city of Grand Rapids. Through tutoring, life skills classes, mentoring, and preaching the gospel five days a week in the same neighborhood, we will see many kids’ lives transformed. We will be starting a fundraising campaign shortly. I will keep you posted.

Tutoring – We would like to start doing tutoring at one of our sites where we currently have Power House. We would like start doing tutoring now for the following reasons:

1. We can get our feet wet while we work the bugs out of the tutoring program.
2. We can have some of the volunteers already rounded up by the time the building opens.
3. We can build greater relationships with the kids we already minister to.

Camp – This year logistics works in our favor. We would like to have 10 – 20 Power House kids attend camp this year. In the past, we were able to have only 1 – 3 kids attend. The plan would be to have experienced Power House workers to be the counselors for the group of Power House kids. I would like to see the kids work to raise most of their money.

These are just a few of our major goals for 2009. Pray that we can round up the resources to accomplish these goals for 2009.
